What is one way link building?

If you are new to SEO and internet marketing, you probably do not know what is one way link building? Why you need one way link building? And how to get those one way back links?

So if that is the case let me help you here by understanding what is one way link building and exactly how you can do it yourself or getting the best high quality one way back links to your site.

One way link building is about building back links (links from other pages that point back to your pages) to your website on other sites and pages on the internet.

There are two kind of links, internal links that mean the links you make inside your pages that links to other pages on your own website, the other links are external links that mean links on other pages (with different URL ) that links to your own pages (in your own URL) those external links we call back links.

Back links also divided to two categories, reciprocal links that describe link exchange between your pages and other pages, your link to domain name 1 from your page, and domain name 1 links to your page. And one way back links that mean an external page links to your own pages without a link back from your page.

One way back links are the most important links in the eyes of search engines, and search engine consider those links as votes to how valuable your pages are. The more one way back links you get the higher your pages will rank on the search engines result pages (SERP).

Today Google give a rank between 0 to 10 to each page this tool called Page Rank (PR) where PR0 is the lowest and PR10 is the highest and the value of the backlink you get is determined by the page rank of the page linking to you and the authority of the domain name linking to you. While page rank is unique to Google only and domain authority considered by all search engines.

Page rank determined by the page rank of back links, but domain authority is determine by a lot of factors like the domain name age, time spent on each visit, page view per month and indexing conversion that basically mean click through per impression.

I do not want you to dive into those elements not yet, it’s better first of all to understand the concept of one way link building. And the more one way back links you get your page rank will increase. But also you need to consider getting back links from high page rank pages.

Another important thing that we take as granted, but most newbie’s do not understand is that links are between pages not websites. When you visit a blog that have a page rank of 5 for example for its home page, and you visit a post on that blog and submitted a comment and it was accepted, but the page rank of the post itself is PR0 the backlink PR will be from PR0 not PR5.

It will be a great idea to have SEOQUAK toolbar on your browser to identify the PR of each page you are visiting and trying to get backlink from.

The best example of one way link building is article marketing, when you submit articles to blog networks and article directories, and having a back link from the article itself or the resource box. You will start building back links to your pages from the pages your articles published at. But also on this example you need to be very careful.

The latest Google Panda update had a huge impact on websites getting back links from articles, because a lot of those website used duplicate articles. You need to have unique articles posted and on each new page you need to have deferent articles; that’s why webmasters use spinning to create unique versions of their articles.

To really dominate the article marketing, and getting the best back links from article marketing I strongly recommend the Unique Article Wizard. It has a powerful tool to create unique articles and automatically distribute those articles to blog networks and directories.
